9月24日，埃及青年和体育部长萨巴西在会见国际奥委会主席巴赫时宣布，埃及总统已批准埃及申办2036年夏季奥运会。

巴赫表示，埃及奥林匹克体育城设施建设满足埃及举办奥运会条件。
